PhD Proposal Writing Workshop, Tamale, July 2023

© DAAD / Valentine Ayine

Proposal writing workshops are aimed at prospective PhD candidates to fine-tune their PhD proposals for a successful doctoral programme application.

About the Workshop in Tamale

Participants at the workshop were coached by seasoned researchers and other DAAD and Germany alumni who have successfully completed their research stays in Germany. Prof. Edmond Agyeman from the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) facilitated the workshop and training sessions. Dr. Mustapha Alhassan a DAAD Alumnus from the Dept. of Psychology, University for Development Studies (UDS), shared his experiences and research stay in Germany on the first day (for participants in humanities and social sciences). Dr. Francis Addy from the Dept. of Biotechnolgy and a DAAD Alumnus as well, shared his experiences and research stay in Germany. These workshops, an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research are also aimed at introducing participants to the vast research landscape of Germany, available funding opportunities as well as ‘how to find a research supervisor’.

In case you missed the workshop, you are invited to register for our upcoming ‘Research Talk’ taking place on Thursday 31st August 2023.

Join 'My Research Talk Series'.

My Research Talk Series is an event to connect DAAD Alumni who have completed research stays in Germany with prospective applicants interested in doing their research in Germany.

Next upcoming session:

Thursday 31st August 2023 @ 4pm GMT

The resource persons were very knowledgeable about their topics and made the program very interactive which to me, was very good. Additionally, the workshop sessions exposed certain weaknesses inherent in our write-ups(PhD concept notes) when they were subjected to scrutiny by the resource persons. This has contributed immensely to the quality of my applications and correspondence between me and my would-be supervisors. I now have a fair idea about what is expected of a doctoral candidate in Germany.  I recommend this workshop to anyone who has an interest in pursuing his/her PhD in Germany.
